Dormont Elementary Parent and Faculty Organization (DEPFO) 2026-27 Membership Form

The Dormont Elementary Parent and Faculty Organization (DEPFO) exists to provide a forum for parents, faculty and administration to convene, communicate and support various activities for the benefit of all Dormont Elementary students.

Objectives of DEPFO include but are not limited to:

• Coordinating functions which promote a spirit of inclusion and partnership between parents, students and faculty

• Maintaining a variety of functions to promote participation in DEPFO activities at various levels

• Coordinating fundraising in order to fund student activities and supplies

Our organization only succeeds when many engage and participate! We have a need of many different levels of participation. We welcome you to attend our meetings, to promote our events to others, to attend our events, to volunteer* at events, to co-chair an event, and more! 

Membership in the DEPFO means you are eligible to vote during meetings to help make decisions about ways in which our organization will engage with our community. It means that you will be eligible to volunteer* and it means that you are building the community around Dormont Elementary School. 

Dues are no longer levied on members to make membership accessible to everyone. 

Monthly member meetings will be held generally the third Wednesday of each month. More details will be coming out for future dates, but save the date for our first meeting on Wednesday, Aug 19 at 7 PM. The meeting will be held in hybrid format, either in person at the Dormont Elementary Library or via Google Meet. 

Attending and promoting our events is a critical way you can support our organization and build community at our school. Talk with peer caregivers in your child's grade and coordinate your attendance at family events, such as the Welcome Back Dance, Fall Book Fair, Camp Read-A-Lot, and more. Sharing information with neighbors and friends about our public events such as the Basket Raffle during the Dormont Street & Music Festival, Haunted Trail, Winter Carnival, and Spring Vendor Fair helps tremendously too. 

Volunteering at various events can mean helping unbox books, setting up displays, or operating a cash register during the fall book fair. It can mean helping to solicit or collect donations or sell raffle tickets during the basket raffle at the Dormont Street and Music Festival. It can mean decorating for or cleaning up after an event. Time commitment is usually limited to the event itself or a few hours more. 

Co-chairing an event means that you will work with at least one other peer to help plan and execute an event. We have plenty of notes from previous years and we have some "seasoned" volunteers on the PFO Executive Board who are happy to help you on your way. The time commitment for co-chairing is a bit more than volunteering and can be approximately 5-10 hours in addition to the event, depending on the event and other factors.
