Excellence in engaging, empowering, and enriching today for tomorrow’s expectations

Bike & Walk to School Day

Posted Date: 09/07/26 (08:09 AM)

Dormont is less than one square mile in area. Although there are many hills, it prides itself on being a community which is walkable and bike-able!

Bike & Walk to School Day is an opportunity to gather with neighbors who might end up being walking or biking partners throughout out the school year. It's also a chance to learn about other bike and walking resources available in our community.

One way you can participate is by coordinating a "bike bus" or a "walking group" from your block or neighborhood. Please see the sign ups below and we can help you to coordinate your route.

Once you reach the school, we will have some free giveaways for all walkers / bike riders!

Here is some more information on "What is a Bike Bus?" brought to you by Bike Pgh! which is a great organization based in Pittsburgh to make our city more bike friendly and safer for bicyclists.

Sorry for the late update. There are three community options offered by caregivers tomorrow. Estimated times to meet are likely between 7:40 - 7:50ish, depending on proximity to the school.
The Bike Bus will meet up at the Fire Station on Hillsdale Ave at Espy Ave.
There are two walking groups:
The first will leave from Delwood Ave at Dormont Ave - crossing at Dormont and West Liberty Ave. and then they walk down Park toward Dormont Elementary.
The other walking group is from Latonia Ave. walking along Peermont Ave, passing Piedmont, Pinehurst, Gaylord and Wainbell. They cross West Liberty Ave. at McFarland and then turn on Raleigh then on Grandin, then on Annapolis.
Hope to see you tomorrow morning, whichever mode you choose!
